Jeff Bradley

When I met Master Brown I was 32 years old and weighted 196 pounds.  I was paying for an expensive gym membership, and had spent years going at least 3 times a week, but I never seemed to see any results.  I started taking Boot Camp and Martial Arts classes at Aspire, and doing weight training with Master Brown.  A little over a year later my weight has dropped to 150 pounds, and I went from a size 34 waist to a size 28.  I am stronger, quicker and in better cardio condition now than I was 10 years ago in the Navy.  From day one at Aspire I set challenging goals for myself, and Master Brown helped me achieve them.  Besides the weight loss, a highlight for me was taking first place in sparring at the Midwest Open Tae Kwon Do tournament in Iowa, and first place at the Show-Me-Games in Columbia, MO.

Master Brown knows how to get the best out of me.  He is constantly challenging me to be a better martial artist and a person.  If you believe in yourself and commit to him, he will commit to you and you will see results.

Jim Menges

My name is Jim Menges and I am 37 and prior to starting to workout at Aspire, I weighed almost 185 pounds.  This past summer I had invited my friend, Jeff Bradley, to go wakeboarding.  I had not seen Jeff since the previous summer.  I was absolutely stunned when Jeff, a.k.a., Skinny Man, showed up, and of course I was curious as to how he had gotten in to such great shape.  He wanted me to see for myself, but for no good reason I kept putting off going to Aspire.  I am now very excited that I finally stopped making excuses.

I started on December 6th, 2004.  The schedule is personal training with Master Brown on Monday and Wednesday for one hour, the TKD classes on Tuesday's and Thursday's, and whenever possible I try to attend a boot camp class.  After only a month I am already down to 172.  I am ecstatic!  The workouts have not been easy, but so far the benefits have been worth it.  My jeans are too loose already, when I play racquetball I do not get winded, and the cooler I had around my 6-pac is now just a coolly cup!

Thank you Jeff for the motivation and inspiration to improve my well being.  Thank you Master Brown for the dedication you give to your clients and students.  Although I have only just begun my journey to achieve a well being and fitness level I thought was unattainable, I am confident that with the guidance of Master Brown and others at Aspire Martial Arts & Fitness I will not only achieve but will exceed the goals I have set for 2005.

Adam C. Rogers

I have been a student of Master John Brown since the December of 1999.  I was sixteen when I started taking Tae Kwon Do classes from Master Brown and up to that point, I had nowhere near the amount of confidence in myself that I have now.  Master Brown taught me to try my hardest at everything I do and to never give up, no matter how hard the challenge may be.  Besides Tae Kwon Do, I had never stuck with any sport or activity but Master Brown always finds a way to make class interesting and that is why I have stayed with it.  I plan to be a martial artist for the rest of my life and I hope to someday be an instructor also.  Not only has martial arts changed my life but it has also changed the way I treat other people and situations, not to mention that it gives me goals to strive for so I feel like I have a purpose.  It seems like a lot of other instructors are just in it for the money and they just hand out belts to their students because they paid for it.  Master Brown is not in it for the money, he is in it because he hopes that all of his students will achieve even more than he has someday.

The Kent Family

We first met John Brown the fall of 1991 when our son began taking TaeKwonDo lessons from him. My husband and I were impressed with his style of teaching and the skills he displayed. We soon joined in the classes as well, with doubt that we could accomplish much in the way of martial arts. We thought we would enjoy spending time with our son and getting some exercise. In three years we all has attained our black belts, participated in tournaments, and learned a great deal about being martial artists. Our son learned self discipline and gained the confidence to excel not only in martial arts but also in school. My husband and I have benefited from improved physical condition and have been able to carry over the ways of martial arts to other aspects of our lives.

Over the past ten years we have watched John mature and perfect his teaching skills. We have seen him help many other families and individuals to reach their potential in the martial arts. With his patient and encouraging manner John has the ability to nurture students of all ages, from the most timid four year old to the most unsure sixty year old. He knows how to temper discipline with caring and earns the respect of his students.

We feel that John is a true martial arts master and look forward to many more years of learning and growing with him.
